There are three main goals of Modern Embalming:Sanitization: Embalming chemicals contain disinfectant agents that can prevent the spread of bacteria and diseases, ensuring the body is free from unpleasant smells and safe to be viewed.Preservation: Embalming chemicals slow down the process of decay by making the body inhospitable to bacteria, allowing the deceased to be kept without significant deterioration before the funeral. Presentation: Embalming fluids contain dyes that aid in restoring a life-like appearance to the deceased, and the techniques used in modern embalming can restore shrunken and dehydrated tissues for a more natural contour and appearance.A proper embalming process can bring families a better viewing experience, which is widely considered beneficial for recovering from grief.

Better PreservationRefrigeration (typically 2-5°C) delays decay by slowing bacterial activity, while embalming actively eliminates bacteria within the body, providing superior preservation. Embalming complements refrigeration.Dehydration PreventionRefrigeration accelerates moisture loss, potentially damaging your loved one’s appearance. Fortunately, embalming solutions are specially formulated to prevent dehydration and its unpleasant effects.

Organs are NOT taken out during the embalming process, except in cases where an autopsy has been performed.
